- MMG IX UQs have two layers of Insultex (IX), plus
the InsulTubes Torso Heater insert, all sewn together in one
unit.
- The layers are Differential Cut (outer layer slightly larer than inner layer). This makes it less critical how
you hang the UQ.
- MMG IX UQs have an outer covering of nylon.
- Jerry Chairs are covered inside and out, because they are designed to be sat upon, on the ground.
- Full length MMG IX UQs are 78" long. 3/4 MMG IX UQs are 52" long. Both are about 45" at the widest point.
- Jerry Chairs are the same size as 3/4 IX UQs.
- These underquilts fit all gathered end hammocks, including Hennessey,
ENO, Speer, Switchback, DIY, as well as Warbonnet Blackbird and
Traveler.
- All MMG IX UQs have End Channels to assist you in fitting them to your hammock.
- Regarding
condensation: You should be aware of conditions that could cause
condensation if you use MMG IX UQs outside other insulation. If you
are unsure, then put the IX against the hammock.
- Details about Insultex can be found here.
| Custom made by MacEntyre:
What is PPEF? Perforated
PolyEthylene Foam is what MacEntyre uses to insulate hammock socks. The
middle layer of Insultex is the same thing: 1/32" polyethylene foam.
MacEntyre perforates it so that when you stuff it, the air has
somewhere to go. He faces PPEF with lightweight nylon on both sides to
protect it. Since PPEF is less expensive than Insultex, MacEntyre is
able to keep costs down.
Nylon Hammock Sock with SEEP - 16 oz. (It's now 2 oz lighter!)
Fits all gathered end hammocks. Made with breathable nylon
and Insultex. This sock opens along one side, at the edge of the
hammock, using the SEEP (Side Entry/Exit Portal). The SEEP is an
overlapping top with a full length
opening. The sock is completely covered by the overlapping top. The
bottom and short sides can be made with one layer
of PPEF. You can order a Sock without insulation. Use the Sock by
itself, or put an UnderQuilt inside. One layer of IX should lower
by 20 degrees F or more the rating of the rest of your insulation.
The non-insulated Sock will add more warmth than you would imagine.
Since it encloses the entire hammock, it eliminates edge
gaps that allow cold air to spill in. It is an insulated,
water resistant, wind proof cover. It is easier to get in and out of
this sock than any other! $150 for a non-insulated Nylon Hammock Sock with SEEP $185 for a single layer PPEF Hammock Sock with SEEP
Nylon Hammock Sock with Dutch SEEP VIDEO: See how the Dutch SEEP works! Add
a lower panel to the SEEP, suspended with shock cord, which provides an
overlapping closure. The upper portion of the SEEP is shortened accordingly. $20 to add a nylon Dutch SEEP
Nylon Hammock Sock without SEEP
- 13 oz. Insulated Hammock (hammock not included), or... the most unusual underquilt ever made! We made a PPEF Hammock Sock
without a top so you can use tie outs! If you want to use it with a top, it works
with the BBO Topcover
from ArrowHead Equipment. This topless sock fits the Blackbird "like a
glove", according to one hanger, and it works with any gathered end hammock. Use
the SEEPless Sock by
itself, or in conjunction with an UnderQuilt. (Be aware of conditions
that could cause condensation if you put the PPEF on the outside.) It
should lower
by 20 degrees F or more the rating of the rest of your insulation.
Since it insulates the entire hammock, it eliminates edge
gaps that allow cold air to spill in. Essentially, it is a
water resistant, wind proof under cover that insulates your entire hammock! $170 for a single layer PPEF Hammock Sock without SEEP.
